Xbox One S Ad Reveals 4K, HD Support; 40% Smaller Than Original; PS4 Gets HDR Support, No Blu-Ray Player

Xbox One S commercial revealed a slimmer console with 4K Ultra-HD Bluray and high dynamic range support. The console was released in preparation for the smash hit games that will support HDR and 4K gaming. For a limited time only, those who purchase the Xbox One S will also get a free game.

Microsoft recently released a 30-second TV commercial for their latest gaming console, the Xbox One S. The device is expected to be 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One. Additionally, the ad specifically mentioned that the Xbox One S is the "only console with 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray" for physical and streaming media.

The Xbox One S will be able to support HDR for the HDR-ready and 4K-gaming ready games that have already been released such as the "Forza Horizon 3" and the upcoming "Gears of War 4". It should be noted that the gaming console works best with a 4K TV.

Meanwhile, Sony's PlayStation 4 was updated to support HDR on all systems as far back as those launched in 2013. The Xbox One S' rival, the PS4 Pro is set for a release in November and will reportedly support HDR and will cost $400. However, the device does not include a 4K Blu-ray player but it will be able to support 4K streaming media from YouTube and Netflix.

The Xbox One S was launched last month and came with a new Bluetooth-enabled Xbox One controller with textured grips. Rumor has it that purchasers of the Xbox One S are going to get a good deal at this time. For a limited time only, those who purchase the new system will get a free game.

In other news, the Xbox One sales have reportedly increased by roughly 1,000 percent in UK since the release of the new 500GB and 1TB Xbox One S models. Microsoft's share of the hardware market last Sept. 24 reportedly jumped to 71 percent. 4K video streaming and 4K UHD Blu-ray are also said to be getting good responses from gamers and critics alike.

The Xbox One S and the "Fifa 17" Xbox One S consoles are said to be doing well not just last week but since it was released, Xbox UK marketing director Harvey Eagle said in a statement. This has proved to be a valuable upgrade for gaming consoles, Eagle added. Moreover, those who choose to upgrade to the new system may also get a free game like the three Battlefield 1 Xbox One S bundles and  a new Minecraft bundle.
