Old-School Desktop Runs An Autoshop For 25 Years

With the fast-paced technology and demands of today's market, gadgets get obsolete at a faster rate than usual, only to be replaced by the newest versions and latest features to boot.

Businesses migrate their system from the old type of machine to the latest one, always wanting to be on the current track of the latest products of technology.

But hey, just like the old saying goes, it gets sweeter when it gets older, this Commodore 64 has been powering the police auto shop for 25 years.  Just imagine that! Our computer doesn't even reach 10 years or even 5 years these days because we don't want to be behind in everything.

An automobile shop in Gdansk, Poland has been using C64, a 1994 model with 64kb of Ram and 1MHz CPU and has survived 25 years even with the technology's advancement for the past years.  Not only that it survived for decades, it had survived floods too and even shats on the birds.   Yes, this machine has been flooded through a leaking window.  I don't think our latest flat screen type computers can survive or even the CRTs before.  But Commodore 64 is still in good working condition up to this day.

This is sometimes the benefit of a business owner who doesn't want to adapt to new changes in technology.  The owner might not be risky in terms of following the latest trend in the market, but he has proved that with proper maintenance, things could last, if there such thing as forever.

The Commodore 64 was originally bought for £450 but is now more than £1,500.  Would you like to trade your latest computer with this one? Or would you have the courage to keep your computer for the next 25 years?
