Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Which is the Best Newcomer?

With new and interesting technologies to date, investing in a new smartphone might prove more difficult. If you're one of the many struggling to find the perfect handheld device, take a side look at the newest kids on the block - Google Pixel, Sony Xperia XZ and the iPhone 7.

How will the newly launched Pixel phone fare to Xperia XZ and iPhone 7

Theres only one way to find out, we compare the three phones to help you choose which is best.

Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Design

The iPhone 7 sports a 4.7-inch full HD screen while Google Pixel and Xperia offers 5 and 5.2-inch full HD screens, but the resolution on the latter is 1440p while Xperia and iPhone only manages 1080p.

When it comes to the color, iPhone 7 may still have the trendiest pallete with 5 shades to choose from: Rose Gold, Gold, Silver, Black and the famous Jet Black Color. Google Pixel has 3 varieties namely Very Silver, Quite Black and Really Blue while Xperia XZ comes in Mineral Black, Platinum and Forest Blue.

While Apple have kept its fingerprint scanners on the front of its device, Google is keeping its fingerprint scanner on the backside of the phone while XZ - except for the Europe version - won't come with a fingerprint scanner, Pocket-Lint reported.

Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Specs

It might get a little harder to judge which is best when it comes to specifications. Both Pixel and XZ prove that they have top of the line features. Pixel is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821, probably the best processor today and a 32 GB space. On the other hand, Xperia features Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, a little less lower than Pixel's with a 32 GB storage than can be expanded to 200 GB via MicroSD.

The iPhone 7 boasts of its Apple A10 Fusion and has a 32 GB storage similar to Pixel. The same is true of random access memory - useful for multitasking - as the iPhone boasts only 2GB while Pixel offers 4GB and Xperia XZ with 3GB RAM.

In the battery life department, the Xperia XZ has a 2,900 mAh battery, compared to the Pixel's lower 2,770 and iPhone's 1960 mAh. The Xperia XZ clearly packs a little more juice than the both the Pixel and iPhone, TechTimes reported.

Lastly, Pixel and XZ still takes pride on its 3.55 mm headphone jack - unlike the iPhone 7.

Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Camera

In recent years, iPhones have led the pack when it comes to smartphone photography. From a resolution standpoint, Pixel offers a 12.3 megapixel rear and 8 megapixel front camera. iPhone 7 offers 12 megapixel rear and 7 megapixel front camera while Xperia XZ takes a whopping 23 megapixel back camera and a 13 megapixel front camera. It seems that Xperia XZ is the clear winner in terms of camera paper specs.

Bear in mind that megapixels don't always mean better pictures, it only means a larger resolution.

Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Extra Features

Expandable storage maybe good but having unlimited storage is even better.

Although, Xperia might come in handy with its 200 GB expandable storage via MicroSD, Google is offering Pixel cloud storage for full-resolution photos and video, including 4K video. Yes you heard it right. To compare, iPhone 7 offers 32, 128, or 256GB of internal memory without expandable storage.

Google Pixel vs Sony Xperia XZ vs iPhone 7: Price

The Sony Xperia XZ which was revealed at this year's IFA, can now be purchased on Amazon for a whopping $699.99. The iPhone 7 starts at $649 for the 32GB base model, and the iPhone 7 Plus starts at $769 for the same capacity while Pixel costs $649 for the smaller 5-inch Pixel with 32GB of storage and $749 with 128GB of onboard storage.
