"The Vampire Diaries" star Paul Wesley is the latest to give hints of Nina Dobrev's imminent comeback on the show's eighth season. Dobrev, this time, is touted not to return as Elena Gilbert.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 is set to premiere on Oct. 21 and there has been no confirmation until now if Dobrev is coming back. According to latest speculations, the 27-year-old actress might be returning on set. The catch, however, is that she is not reprising her role as Elena.
Nina Dobrev Reprises Katherine Pierce Role?
This news broke out after Wesley, who played the role of Stefan Salvatore, posted on his Instagram account a photo from "The Vampire Diaries" finale set hinting at Katherine Pierce's character revisiting Mystic Falls. It can be remembered that Katherine first captivated Stefan and his brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) when she moved to their town escaping Klaus Michaelson (Joseph Morgan). Before Katherine was killed off, she was able to express his love for Stefan.
The End Of "Delena"
Despite all the hints, producers of the show have continued to keep mum on the issue. In previous reports, Somerhalder already expressed that he does intend to work with his ex-girlfriend Dobrev anymore in the show. Dobrev, on the other hand, also expressed in the past that she is not coming back on the show should there be Somerhalder. Before leaving off the show, Dobrev had already been reported having issues and complaints on the show.
In another news, "The Vampire Diaries" executive producer Julie Plec already spoiled last week that Stefan will have a huge concern about Damon's state. It can be noted in the previous season that Damon, along with Lorenzo "Enzo" St. John (Michael Malarkey), was possessed by an evil spirit after they went inside a tomb where the spirit resided for three years. Season 7 ended without knowing who that spirit was. There are speculations that it could also be Katherine Pierce.
Kristen Stewart Joining "The Vampire Diaries" Season 8?
Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart has also been speculated to join the cast of "The Vampire Diaries" in its final season. However, like with Dobrev's comeback, the show's producers have yet to release their official statement on the "Twilight" star's appearance.
"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 premieres Oct. 21 on CW.
