LinkedIn Launches New Feature Helps You Quietly Look For A New Job

Tired of your job? Perhaps you've been longing to have that dream job but afraid that your employer will know. Here's good news for those wanting to quit their current job. LinkedIn introduces its new feature for job seekers to quietly look for a new job.

LinkedIn has launched its latest feature Open Candidates four months after the announcement of Microsoft to acquire the social media company for $26.2 billion. This feature gives its 450 million professional members looking for a new job an opportunity to quietly notify recruiters without their current employer knowing. This new feature is only viewable for recruiters who availed the premium service.

"The secret to career happiness is finding a job you love, however there is no way to tell the world that you're open to new opportunities without worrying about your employer finding out," Dan Shapiro wrote in a blog post. "But imagine if you could signal to recruiters everywhere that you'd like to hear from them, and by doing so increase your chances of having one of those magic moments when a recruiter reaches out with an amazing opportunity," he added.

Open Candidates provides members an option to specify the types of companies and the roles they are interested in. Millions of employers can view their profile. Basically, it's a freedom for them to match their skills to a company or getting into a job they've always dreamed of.

Despite Shapiro's statement that Open Candidates will hide the signal from the member's current company recruiters or affiliated company recruiters, a disclaimer states: "We take steps to not show your current company that you're open, but can't guarantee that we can identify every recruiter affiliated with your company."

LinkedIn also has rolled out its "Career Page" to learn all about the employer's brand and its culture and "Meet My Team" to learn about future connections with the company. Initially, Open Candidates will be available in countries like US, Canada, UK and Australia.
