Microsoft Confirmed To Hold An October Event, Surface Phone May Still Be A No-Show

After the long waiting game, Microsoft has finally confirmed that they will be holding an event this October. As per the company's teaser, they will be announcing something Windows 10-related this October 26. Some might say that this date could be the perfect time for the Surface Phone launch. However, it looks like the rumored next-generation Microsoft phone will not make an appearance this year.

Microsoft Surface Phone Release Date

The Surface Phone, if it actually does exist, could be launched in 2017. According to ZDNET, their sources say that the said phone would not show up at the upcoming Microsoft event. This actually makes sense, because first of all, there haven't been any reliable 'leaks' and 'renders' that have shown up regarding the Surface Phone. Also, Microsoft may still be in the process of working out its Lumia line considering that the said phone series hasn't been so much of a success. Needless to say, a 2016 release date for the new Microsoft phone may be highly unlikely.

Microsoft's October 26 Event 2016

Microsoft is expected to launch the all new All In One Surface PC in its upcoming event. While most people would also want to see new portable Surface devices, it looks like that wouldn't be the case. The Surface Phone, the Surface Book 2 and the Surface Pro 5 may not make an appearance at the said event. Nevertheless, a revamped version of the Surface Pro 4 and Surface Book could be introduced.

The company also focused on 'Windows 10' in their event announcement, so it could also mean that an operating system update is coming. It could be the highly-awaited Windows 10 Redstone 2 or just a minor Windows update. Microsoft could also give focus on its OEM partners. This means that laptops from different companies that use Windows 10 could also be showcased.
