'Batman' Movie Latest News And Updates: Standalone Film Cancelled? Ben Affleck Admits He Lacks Budget And Script

The production of the standalone "Batman" movie might be cancelled. A number of problems seem to have come up that is causing the delay of the production. Ben Affleck is supposed to direct the movie and reprise his titular role.

Filming Of The Movie Was Announced Before

The production of the newest "Batman" movie was already announced before after the movie that pitted him with Superman was shown in theaters. Marvel's new movie, "Justice League," is now being wrapped up. This new standalone movie was supposed to be titled "The Batman." But problems started cropping up that led to rumors that "The Batman" is cancelled before filming has begun.

There Is No Budget And No Script

Affleck admitted that he does not have a budget or a script for the forthcoming movie. He only has a title for it. "Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" was the first time Affleck donned the uniform of the Dark Knight. He also appeared briefly as Batman in "Suicide Squad."

When he first announced production of "The Batman," it was projected that the film was going to be released 18 months later. But in a Facebook Live interview, the actor revealed that although he's got the backing of Warner Bros, he doesn't exactly have a firm commitment as to how much money will be available. He also does not know what the plot will be.

"There is no Batman movie yet... We're still trying to figure it out, you know, get the script and budget and all that stuff," said Affleck in the interview. For now, it is clear that without a budget and a story line, the new Batman movie is cancelled. But this could also mean the production of the film is just postponed until Affleck gets the budget and is able to come up with a story.
