'The Defenders' Cast Introduced During New York Comic-Con Panel; Sigourney Weaver To Join As Main Antagonist

The upcoming series to be entitled "The Defenders" was recently introduced during the New York Comic-Con event. Along with introducing the cast during the Marvel-Netflix panel was the showing of previews for upcoming shows.

New York Comic Con Introduces Upcoming Marvel-Netflix Series, "The Defenders"

Just last Saturday, the New York Comic Con was held and the Marvel-Netflix panel was one of the hottest and most anticipated panels during the event. Thus, alongside introducing the existing Marvel shows currently being aired on Netflix, a new show was also introduced, "The Defenders." Although production hasn't started yet, the cast of the upcoming show was already presented in the panel.

Sigourney Weaver Set To Play As Villain In "The Defenders"

Along with the main cast being introduced for the upcoming show "The Defenders" was their main antagonist, Sigourney Weaver. She is well known for her portrayal in different supernatural films and has been in the business for decades already. Now, she is to set foot in a Marvel series that will yet again endure the charm of the audience. Weaver's character in the series has not yet been explained, but she is already set to play the major villain.

However, the main event of the panel was to introduce the first official trailer of an upcoming Marvel series "Iron Fist," which is set to premiere on March 2017. Marvel head of TV, Jeph Loeb even explained that filming for "Iron Fist" has already finished. This could mean that production for "The Defenders" may start soon.

Theme Song For "The Defenders" May Have Been Heard For The First Time During New York Comic Con Panel

During the panel, Loeb introduced on stage the casts of the upcoming series "The Defenders." They all joined him in singing a song which Loeb claimed to be the soundtrack for the upcoming series. However, the song wasn't properly introduced and acknowledged, so the Marvel fans will have to wait for it to be officially announced.

The next few months will definitely be filled with speculations and theories on the upcoming "The Defenders," and the villain role that Weaver will be playing in the series.
