MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Which 12-inch Laptop Should You Buy?

Razer Blade Stealth was recently updated. Now rocking an Intel Core i7 CPU, it is proving to be a strong competitor in the Ultrabook market, but how does it fare next to other 12-inch laptops such as this year's MacBook and the recently launched Asus ZenBook 3?

For the sake of this review, we will compare the premium versions of the 12-inch Ultrabooks.

MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Specs

To be specific, the Razer Blade Stealth sports an Intel Core i7-7500U processor, similar to the Asus ZenBook 3. On the other hand, the 12-inch MacBook 2016 has an Intel m7 in its premium variant. The latter is obviously the less-stellar performer of the two chips, so Apple takes the back seat on this one.

As for RAM, the Razer Blade Stealth has an impressive 16GB LPDDR3. Asus is not to be left behind with the same specs, but MacBook once again takes a hit with only 8GB LPDDR3 memory on board. Apple's bet is clearly lagging behind, but can it still overtake the two?

MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Display

With the recent update, the Razer Blade Stealth now also boasts 4K display with 3,840 x 2,160 resolution. This is where the ZenBook 3 takes a step back with its Full HD screen with 1,920 x 1080 resolution. It's great, sure, but it doesn't match up to 4K. Apple also has its Retina display to boast of. With 2,304 x 1,440 resolution, the Cupertino company claims that pixels won't be seen by the naked eye.

MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Aesthetics

All three certainly makes you take a second look with their sleek body. The MacBook has an aluminum body with four colors that mimic the colors of the iPhone: Silver, Space Gray, Gold and Rose Gold, the last of which is a hit.

Then there's the metal unibody of the ZenBook 3 with that iconic Zen finish. It is available in three colors: Royal Blue, Quartz Grey and Rose Gold. The metallic factor elicits a "wow," but there's something about the clean look of the MacBook that sets it apart.

Lastly, the Razer Blade Stealth only sports one look: a matte black aluminum with their green, squiggly logo in the middle. Also a clean look, but it screams casual more than any other in this comparison article.

MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Other Bits

The Razer has 1TB of storage in SSD, twice that of the ZenBook 3 and MacBook's 512GB SSD. As for measurements, the Asus wins with only 0.47 inches in height. Apple's Ultrabook sort of come in as second because its thinnest point is 0.14 inches and its thickest point is 0.52 inches. The Blade Stealth measures 0.52 inches at all points.

MacBook vs Razer Blade Stealth vs Asus ZenBook 3: Price

When it comes to pricing, the Razer Blade Stealth takes the cake. The premium model only costs $1,299. That's right, you get all the specs above for $300 less than the ZenBook 3 and the MacBook. While cheaper than its competitors, this 12-inch Ultrabook doesn't feel and look cheap at all.
