But according to sources, Netflix has revealed that the TV series being renewed for a new season is quite possible. It is said that Netflix is waiting for the public reception of the fifth season as well as its official viewers' ratings. In lieu with that, the official Twitter account of "Longmire", which is Longmire Posse, posted vague updates and messages regarding the status of the series including a photo that says "Dear God, Please allow Longmire to have as many seasons as The Simpsons. Thank You!" The account, as well as fans, have been urging Netflix to renew the series.
With the possibility of "Longmire" returning in 2017 and season 6 on the works, it has been speculated that the new season will explore the relationship between the main characters, Sheriff Walt Longmire and Deputy Victoria Moretti.
