‘The Simpsons’ News and Updates: Producer Thought That The Show Was Cancelled?

It may seem that all is going well with the TV series "The Simpsons." But it seems that the producer of the show thought that it was canceled or is going to at least two times. But the show is still running and it will soon air its 600th episode on Sunday at Fox Network.

All Has Not Been Well In The Show

"The Simpsons" has already become an institution not only for Fox Network but also for the entertainment industry. But it has not been rosy all the way as Alfred Jean, producer of the show, has revealed. There were at least two times that he thought the show will get the ax.

The Two Times The Show Was In Danger Of Being Axed

Al Jean disclosed that the two events happened during the show's 2011 to 2012 season. The first one, he said, was after the 23rd season. The network wanted to cut its budget to 25 percent, which they did.

"We were asked to designate a final episode, which would have been the one called Holidays of Future Passed,'" said Jean. "There wasn't a desire to cancel the show, but moving back to Sunday from Thursday was a huge help, too. I'm sure we wouldn't be on if we weren't on Sunday," he added.

The Coming Episode of "The Simpsons" Will Be Its 600th

Sunday night's episode of "The Simpsons" will join a very rare group of long-running TV shows. The title of the episode is "Treehouse of Horror XXVII." It will be the 600th episode of the TV series that has been on the airwaves for 27 long years.

In more ways than one, this episode can really be considered as one for the history books. It's a special episode which marks the 27th year anniversary of "The Simpsons" Halloween special. There is only one primetime show that was able to achieve this feat - "Gunsmoke." This western TV series was broadcast from 1955 to 1975.
