Instagram, the popular photo sharing app, is widening its reach beyond Android and iOS. Per rumors, an Instagram app for Windows Phone is in development and could soon arrive on the platform.
As far as the Instagram team is concerned, the app development news is a major boost to the company. The app arrived on Android just a few months back and recently, Facebook completed the company’s acquisition.
The new rumors have arrived after Nokia revealed its Lumia 920 last week and mentioned the new exclusive app tiles presence in all Lumia devices. The company also posted a promotional video that may or may not be showing-off an Instagram live tile for Windows Phone.

Moreover, according to a Verge report, it is still “not clear whether the app will support the new Lenses camera functionality in Windows Phone 8, but it appears to be a standalone app.”
The report also notes that “The slip up, similar to the sneak peek at Skype on Windows Phone 8, shows that Nokia and Microsoft are committed to ensuring Windows Phone has the most popular applications from rival platforms.”
However, considering all the developments, an Instagram app for Windows Phone could arrive before the end of the year.
