Oppo Releases Find 5: World's First Smartphone with 5-inch 1080p Display

Oppo, the Chinese manufacturer of high-end Blu-ray players, has now entered the smartphone space and that too with a bang! The company, reportedly, has built the world's first smartphone enabled with 1080p screen resolution.

Named "Find 5", the latest Oppo smartphone sports a 5-inch screen with 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution at a whopping 441 pixels per inch (ppi). Along with the impressive display, the new Oppo smartphone will also sport a sleek body and is allegedly only 6.65mm thick. It will feature a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064 processor and will likely come with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.

According to Oppo Mobile CEO Chen Mingyong, the Find 5 easily beats the existing smartphone heavyweights like iPhone 5 (4-inch display with 1,136 x 640 resolution, 326ppi), Nokia Lumia 920 (4.5-inch display with 1,280 x 768 resolution and 331ppi), Galaxy Note 2 (5.5-inch display with 1,280 x 720 resolution and 285 ppi), and Sony Xperia Acro S (4.3-inch display with 1,280 x 720 resolution and 342ppi).

If the Chinese company finally packs in the 1080p resolution in its upcoming device, Find 5's immediate competitors would be the LG Display, which was announced back in May, and HTC's rumored 5-inch 6435LVW phablet.

Among other features, the Oppo smartphone is expected to come with a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, 2GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage, and a 2,500mAh battery.

Details regarding the smartphone's pricing and release date are yet to be revealed.
