The popular upcoming live musical, “Hairspray Live!” has just released a photo on a social media platform showcasing its theme and star-studded cast while it stole the limelight from 2016 remake of “Rock Horror Picture Show”.
“Hairspray Live!” is bound for release later this year and it gave fans a tease with the show unveiling its stellar cast with its first promotional photo. The promotional photo as shown below reveals some of the cast donning colorful and loud outfits standing on a music score titled “You Can’t Stop The Beat”, which is very apt for the theme of the show provide that “Hairspray Live!” is known for its original music. The story of “Hairspray Live!” is set in 1962 Baltimore and it revolves around the life of Tracy Turnblad, who will be played by newcomer Maddie Baillio, who is out to get a spot as a dancer on “The Corny Collins Show”.

“Hairspray Live!” is a live musical adaptation of “Hairspray”, the 2002 award-winning Broadway musical, which is then based on the original 1988 film. Along with Maddie Baillio, the powerful cast includes brilliant talents that will bring to life the lively characters namely Harvey Fierstein, Kirstin Chenoweth, Jennifer Hudson, Ariana Grande, Martin Short, Derek Hough, Garrett Clayton, Dove Cameron, Ephraim Sykes, Shahadi Wright Jospeh, Andrew Martin, Rosie O'Donnell, Sean Hayes, Paul Vogt, and Billy Eichner. It was also revealed that the live musical adaptation will feature songs from the original Broadway and film productions as well. The said musical adaptation, which consists of two acts, is set to air on NBC on December 7, 2016.
