iOS 6.1 To Support Movie Ticket Sales With Siri?

Apple's Siri is one of the most innovative technologies offered by the Cupertino-based company thus far, and it seems like the company is set to ride on the technology's popularity to add more user friendly options. Now, per reports, Apple is looking to provide users with the option to book movie tickets directly via Siri.

Siri has the ability to look up movie times and over time became more sports-friendly, movie-friendly, Twitter-friendly, iPad-friendly, and car-friendly.

"With iOS 6, Siri understands more languages, works in more countries, and is available on the new iPad. So you can get more things done in more places around the world. Want to know the latest scores and stats for your favorite teams and players? Thanks to iOS 6, Siri knows the answers," the official Apple page stated. "Or maybe it's movie night. Siri can show you the latest reviews and showtimes. Find the best restaurants in town and make reservations. Even open your apps for you - no tapping required."

Per a 9to5Mac report, a newly-released developer beta of iOS 6.1 expands on Siri's movie functionality by allowing users to buy tickets for shows, or get a quick start on the actual process. The new Siri feature, "according to developers who are beta testing the new iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch operating system, works via Fandango. To purchase movie tickets, a user simply needs to ask their iOS device to buy tickets for a certain movie."

Per the report, Apple also mentions the commands in the Siri information menu. According to the company, "When a user asks for movie tickets for a certain movie, the applicable showtimes and theater information will be shown. Then, a user can click the buy movie tickets button and they will be routed to finish their purchase via the Fandango app from the App Store."

It is to be noted that if a user doesn't have Fandango installed, Siri will provide a separate button to download the Fandango app. As far as Apple is concerned, it says that the feature is currently exclusive to users in the U.S., and is not compatible with all the theaters.

However, the list of compatible theaters that will support Siri can be found in the form of a small ticket icon.
