Facebook For iOS Updated – Messenger, Camera Features, And More

The Facebook app for iOS has recently received a host of new updates. Per reports, the newest update that has been pushed out for the Facebook app for iOS is set to improve the overall user experience that the app is currently offering.

The new update to the app, as it seems, brings the new features which users of Messenger and Camera apps were already using. However, the new version 5.1 has brought in changes that make it easier to chat with friends and share multiple photos.

Similar to the Messenger app, users can now swipe left anywhere in the app to see which of their friends are available, and also see whether they are active or not. Users can also add their frequently contacted friends to the top of their Favorites and share multiple photos quickly and simultaneously.

Moreover, a U.S.-only feature allows users to give gifts using Facebook Gifts (US-only) and see who’s active (so that both the user and his or her friends know how soon to expect a reply) is also available.

This update is the latest one for the iOS-based Facebook app after it was reported that Facebook had just added photo filters to its iOS app. Although the feature wasn’t announced previously in the new 5.1 build in the app’s “What’s New” section, it was reported that the new update is now offering multi-photo uploads, slide-out chat buddy list, and Gift giving.

What’s more, Facebook has embedded all the functionality of Camera in its primary iOS app, including filters like “Contrast”, “Copper”, “Cream”, and “B+W”. This update is a major development after Facebook Camera launched in May, providing the social network’s users a way to natively filter their photos for the first time, and importantly without the help of Instagram.

These filters can now be easily added by tapping the ‘magic wand’ once the user has chosen a photo to post, while the ‘borders’ icon lets users crop a photo. Apart from offering a way to browse a photos-only news feed, version 5.1 of Facebook for iOS, in reality, removes the need for Facebook Camera.
