Apple Releases iOS 6.1 Beta 2 For Developers

Apple is on a roll as far sending out beta releases of its OS to developers is concerned. Per reports, less than two weeks after sending out the beta version of Apple’s iOS 6.0.1, the company has yet again rolled out a second iOS 6.1 beta update for interested developers.

The Cupertino-based company has now seeded iOS 6.1 beta 2 (build 10B5105c) to developers on the Apple Developer Center and over-the-air, apart from the new Apple TV software and Xcode 4.6 Developer Preview 2.

While there is still some time left before it is known as to what has changed in the new build, there are reports that mention the new features in the updated build.

Currently, there’s a new design for the Passport card that makes the app simpler and highlights as to what the app can actually do. Now, per Pocketnow, the app now features “one condensed block of text rather than a use-by-use breakdown. Panorama support works again in this beta, after it was broken in the first iOS 6.1 beta release. We’re also hearing about the ability to download individual tracks when using iTunes Match.”

The current iOS 6.1 beta 2 download is a pre-release version and is offered for a number of devices that developers work on, including different generations of iPod touch, iPad, and iPhone. Moreover, Apple has also posted the iOS 6.1 SDK beta 2 software for the Apple TV, although there’s still no real sign of native apps coming to it anytime soon. However, the changes, if any, made to Apple TV are still unknown as of now.

Nonetheless, Apple, according to a Product Reviews report, is “recommending that developers start testing their apps with Xcode 4.6 Developer Preview 2 and iOS 6.1 beta 2, which both available for download right now via the iOS Dev Center. This helps to find compatibility issues early with apps, although it is worth pointing out that a lot of apps still haven’t updated to better support the iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5G screen ratio yet.”

This development is a new one to the beta version of iOS after it was reported that Apple is pushing out iOS 6.1 beta for developers with some new but unknown features. At that time, Apple provided developers with a pre-release version of its forthcoming iOS 6.1 update. The new version was said to feature improvements to Apple-based Maps application programming interface, alongside a beta of Xcode 4.6.
