Apple has finally fixed a number of iTunes bugs with the release of a new update, iTunes 11.0.1. The major fixes with the new update are the iCloud items not being displayed in the  library and a disappearing AirPlay button.

The most remarkable fact about version 11.0.1 is that it brings back a useful feature - duplication detection - which was mysteriously missing from the previous version. iTunes 11.0.1 brings back the built-in tool to find duplicate songs and has made the app faster when searching through a large library. The update is available in the Mac App Store or via Apple's support website.

"This update to the new iTunes addresses an issue where new purchases in iCloud may not appear in your library if iTunes Match is turned on, makes iTunes more responsive when searching a large library, fixes a problem where the AirPlay button may not appear as expected, and adds the ability to display duplicate items within your library," the upgrade note said.

iTunes 11 was originally rolled out on Nov. 29, featuring a visual redesign apparently taking a cue from Apple's iOS software. It featured large expandable album covers, a new "Up Next" song field, deeper integration with Apple's iCloud service, revamped storefronts and a redesigned mini player that allowed users to search for songs, albums and artists without going back to the full view.

However, the drawbacks of the software soon caught the eyes of analysts and Walt Mossberg of AllThingsD had then reported that Apple is working on these fixes.  "A feature that finds duplicate entries is missing. Apple says it will soon be restored in a minor update of the program. In my tests, some album covers were missing in album view. Apple says this is a rare bug, but one it has solved and will fix in a minor update soon. Another bug the company says will be remedied prevents owners of Apple TVs from wirelessly streaming cloud-based movies to their TVs."

Major fixes in the update in a nutshell are:

-          Fixes an issue where new purchases in iCloud may not appear in your library if iTunes Match is turned on.

-          Addresses a problem where the AirPlay button may not appear as expected.

-          Brings back the ability to display duplicate items within your library.

-          Stability and performance improvements.

-          Makes iTunes more responsive when searching a large library.
