AT&T Brings Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Update to Motorola Atrix HD Users

AT&T customers who own Motorola Atrix HD will be at peace with themselves after an agonizingly long wait as the carrier has finally announced the arrival of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update. The update brings along many familiar features including Google Now, smarter keyboard and widgets and rich notifications.

Atrix will join the ranks of Samsung Galaxy Note II, Galaxy S III, and HTC One X+ with the upgrade to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google's most current version of its mobile operating system. Motorola has also added a few tweaks of its own into the mix like Drive Smart and Quick Settings. "The Drive Smart action features the Enhanced Voice Search for a safer driving experience. The SMARTACTIONS Drive Rule will set the phone to auto-reply to calls and texts and enables hands-free conversations," an AT&T blog post said. Motorola also has introduced a new feature called "filmstrip mode" in the photo gallery which will provide a better layout to  images and makes it quite easy to delete or share images.

Another improvement  is that the new AT&T notifications now group together updates from the same application and also allow users to expand or collapse any notification. Customers will also be able to view the full text of an SMS message and the full photo of a MMS can also be viewed. Event notifications display more of the event description to let you quickly see relevant details without having to open the app.

Atrix HD, the fourth device from AT&T to run Jelly Bean, has a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor at 1.5GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage.

Atrix HD customers can get the Android 4.1 update via Wi-Fi by going to Settings>About Phone>Software Updates on their phone.
