Square Enix Releases Final Fantasy IV on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch

Square Enix's Final Fantasy IV has now made its way to the iOS devices, including iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. The RPG, originally released for SNES back in 1991, has been widely popular for its unique characters and dramatic storyline. The game can be downloaded to your iOS devices for $15.99. With the universal app, you will get the iPhone/iPod version as well as the iPad version with just the one purchase.

The iOS version is based off the DS remake. iOS-only features include new 3D graphics with backgrounds and revamped events, cut scenes with voice acting, and game center so that players can earn plenty of Achievements.

FFIV was initially released in North America as Final Fantasy II and it is the first to bring the Active Time Battle system to the franchise, which later became synonymous with the franchise. Active Time Battle system is used in present-day FF titles. It also saw the introduction of the Augment system, which enabled the transfer of abilities from other characters and gave players an edge in battles. Other major features in Final Fantasy IV include a new mapping feature and a Jukebox.

The game stars the dark knight Cecil, captain of the Red Wings airship brigade. The story begins with Cecil being stripped of his command after questioning the king and then sent on a courier mission. The mission gradually turns into a quest to save the world. Cast members like Cecil, Kain and Golbez are fan favorites and the trio were featured in Square Enix's Dissidia fighting games as well.
