Nintendo President Says Super Mario Run Should Spread Quickly Like Pokemon Go

Pokemon Go has boosted Nintendo not just for the Pokemon Go franchise but for all of Nintendo universe. For one, it has hooked people into Pokemon and other Nintendo stuff they haven't heard of before. One hitchhiker will be Super Mario Run, it is scheduled to be out for the iOS, maybe for Android too. The game is currently in development and Nintendo's president feels very positive about it.

Tatsumi Kimishima wants and predicts that Super Mario Run will spread out like wildfire on a pile of dried leaves "just as quickly as Pokémon Go." Kimishima proudly showcased how Pokemon Go is doing well and he says that after its success, more and more people will dig in to playing games with their phones. This time he wishes to use Mario since it is an intellectual property of great value.

This is what Shigeru Miyamoto's team is currently working on and Kimishima is confident that it will spread out to the market the way Pokemon Go did. There are currently 20 million subscribers who expect to receive notifications about Super Mario Run and when it comes out. The Nintendo president also said that jumping into the smartphone app industry has greatly helped their software and hardware sales, Dual Shockers reports.

President Kimishima also stated that their theory on releasing software for the smartphone would positively impact their business has proven to be true. His exact words were:

"Our smartphone business has helped sell a lot of our existing packages. And it has really proved our original thesis: by releasing our software on the smartphone, it positively impacts our existing hardware and software business. And that's precisely the synergy effect we were expecting. And as that has been proven correct, we have more confidence."

What do you think about Nintendo's success after going into the mobile app industry? Do you think they could have done it earlier?
