iOS 6.1 Update: Apple Rumored to be Prepping iOS 6.1 Golden Master or Beta 5 for Developers, Public Release Expected Next Week

Apple has reportedly begun testing the final build of iOS 6.1 and developers can expect the golden master build sometime next week. Citing unnamed "reliable source," German Apple-centric blog iFun reported that the fifth and probably the last beta of iOS 6.1 is being tested internally in Cupertino.

Translating the German blog, the Apple Insider said the software has undergone "extensive internal testing" and if everything goes as scheduled, the golden master build will be released to developers next week,  on Friday. As Redmond Pie notes, a golden master version is the complete, end-user state of the software without any significant bugs.

The iOS 6.1 is presumed to be carrying minor changes with the key ones being bug fixes and optimizations in the areas of connectivity and interface, the report said. In addition, the update will include a significant addition of the ability to purchase movie tickets with Siri's Fandango integration.

There have been lot of speculations and rumors doing the rounds among the tech followers and even the media  about the release of iOS 6.1 Ever since the release of iOS 6 in Sept. 2012, Apple had to deal with a lot of fixes including bugs relating to Wi-Fi connectivity, Maps apps and battery life etc. The iPhone maker released the first beta of iOS 6.1 in Nov. 2012 and the second, third, and fourth betas were released to its registered developers between mid-Nov. to mid-Dec. Apple then released  iOS 6.0.2 update later in December.
