Overwatch Update: Halloween Event Ending Early; Fans Are Not Pleased

Blizzard surprisingly pulls out Overwatch's Halloween event an hour earlier than scheduled. As a result, several fans are not pleased on the decision since they are still trying to unlock some of the event-exclusive skins and items for the last time.

According to Game Rant, Blizzard has made the right move with the way it handled Overwatch's microtransactioms. Buying loot boxes via real world currency is optional. That means players were granted the option to purchase these loot boxes as they please in order to obtain more cosmetics. On the other hand, ample items like maps and heroes are given for free.

However, the problem during big events like Halloween is that event-themed loot boxes are available for a limited time only, which some take it as Blizzard forcing the players to buy these loot boxes. For those players who decided not to spend money on these themed loot boxes will grind until the last minute of the event in order to unlock them.

Unfortunately, Blizzard decided to cut off the Halloween event early for unknown reasons. Previously, it was reported that the event will officially end at 4PM Pacific Time, however, it surprisingly ends at 3PM. As a result, several angry Overwatch fans flooded the forum with complaints. Aside from the new exclusive skins, the Halloween event also featured game modes like Junkestein's Revenge, a similar case to Rocket League-esque Lucio Ball Mode which was in the Rio Olympics event.

Halloween-themed skins might return on the next Halloween season. However, it would be impossible for the Rio Olympics-themed cosmetics to be available at some point in the future. Note that Blizzard does not have any plans on releasing the event-exclusive skins outside the slated events which means some players might not really be able to unlock them all.

With Blizzard not providing clear reasons regarding the pre-mature conclusion of the event, it might be that the company will discuss the matter in the upcoming BlizzCon 2016 event that is scheduled to take place this coming weekend. In addition, fans might also witness the highly awaited proper introduction of the new character Sombra.
