'Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2' Ships 1.4 Million Copies In Half The Time It Took Its Predecessor

Bandai Namco recently announced that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is doing a better job than its predecessor. It recently hit 1.4 million shipments worldwide in a span of nearly half a month. In comparison, the first Xenoverse title reached the 1.5 million mark in a mark.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Outpaces Original Title

Bandai Namco is definitely pleased with the results, but it is worth noting that shipments do not necessarily translate to sales. Nevertheless, it is still a cause for celebration as many gamers are clearly enjoying Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 more than the original title.

The fighting video game takes place in the same Canton City with almost the same mechanics. Users can get to play as their own character and interact with their favorite Dragon Ball characters. Even so, Bandai has sprinkled some improvements here and there that make this game worth it.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Shipment Record Not Enough?

Although Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 has outpaced the original, Forbes thinks that it could have done better. It is a Dragon Ball title after all, so it could have tapped into the franchise's large fanbase all over the world.

Comparing it to Pokemon GO, which instantly became a hit due to the billions of fans across the globe, the sales are rather disappointing. However, it can be noted that it is a free-to-download app in iOS and Android, whereas Xenoverse 2 costs $49.99.

Nevertheless, the increase in shipments would later on translate to sales, which could soon top Xenoverse's 4 million sold copies so far. The 1.4 million figure in less than two weeks speaks for the future of the series and hopefully, get Bandai Namco to greenlight Dimps to develop a third installment.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is now available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC worldwide.
