It seems that Niantic is starting to make things a little bit serious for Pokemon GO. Just recently, the studio dropped a Halloween event, which introduced to lots of boosts and rewards. And now, reports have confirmed that a major update is soon to be unleashed. It's really getting more interesting each day.

According to Forbes, Pokemon GO players can expect a major overhaul from the studio anytime soon. This could offer a wide-range of things -- from brand new features to a unique endgame content. In fact, there's always that possibility of adding more Pokemon to the game. This is where the so-called Gen 2 update enters, though everything about it remains a mystery.

Moreover, the official Facebook page of Pokemon GO has announced that a new version of the title is coming. For Android, it's going to be 0.45.0; whereas for iOS, it's going to be 1.15.0. The page also unveiled few of the update's patch notes -- all of which are really good additions.

Thanks to the aforementioned Pokemon GO patch, players will now be able to earn bonuses in every Pokemon and PokeStop they catch and visit, respectively, each day. This will only happen, however, to the first ones (first creature caught and first Stop visited). And if trainers do this in a row for 7 days, the more bonuses they'll acquire.

Also, whenever Pokemon GO players defeat a rival gym's leader, a certain period of time is needed prior to placing a particular specie on the open gym. Apart from that, the amount of Prestige that a rival Gym loses - when defeated by players -- has been significantly increased. The amount gained, on the other hand, has been decreased. Last but not the least, as expected, there will also be minor text fixes.

Given the forthcoming Pokemon GO patch, it's safe to say that Niantic is setting things up. That they're probably paving the way for a major update to arrive -- something that has long been in the rumor mill. If this is the case, the studio might be preparing for another event (Winter, for instance). Or, as what players have been waiting for, the Gen 2 update.
