Cybersex Addiction: How To Know If You're Affected

Donald Trump has been campaigning strongly against Anthony Weiner. The disgraced former US Congressman has admitted that he is suffering from cybersex addiction. While the Trump campaign is trying to link Weiner with Hillary Clinton, many wonder how serious the addiction Weiner is talking about is.

Weiner's addiction was revealed by his sexting. He exchanged explicit sexual message with a minor. The addiction also includes the use of webcams to perform sexual acts with an online partner. It also includes having sexual conversations with another person online. Sex addiction involves being addicted to online pornography.

Weiner was first caught in 2011. He took paid leave for a couple of weeks to seek treatment for his addiction. He said he would work on becoming a better person. His wife urged him to go for treatment for his addiction for cybersex. His latest encounter involved sending an almost-nude pic to a 15-year-old girl.

According to a 2007 survey, 60.6 percent of the cases did not involve any physical contact and was only limited to cybersex. It was also noted that 22.3 percent of couples held cybersex addiction responsible for their divorce. The brief survey also revealed 52.1 percent of addicts lost interest in their sexual partner due to the addiction. At the same time, 31 percent of addicts continued their preexisting sexual practices online.

According to Ask Dr. Manny, online sex addiction includes compulsive sexual behaviors like masturbation, cybersex, prostitutes, pornography, strip clubs and casual affairs. It also includes exhibitionism and voyeurism. Donald Trump is, meanwhile, trying to cash in the Weiner controversy.

"Crooked Hillary Clinton has been busy living in an alternate reality where her litany of email scandals and FBI investigations don't disqualify her from running for President," CNN quoted Trump's senior communications adviser Jason Miller. It will be interesting to see if Weiner's cybersex addiction helps Trump reach the White House.
