The legendary "Back to the Future" comedy star Christopher Lloyd has been confirmed to join the cast of "Big Bang Theory" season 10 on its Dec. 1 episode. While his definite role is still kept under wraps, fans are expecting Lloyd to contribute to the already hilarious cast of the award-winning sitcom.

Known for his role as Doctor Brown in the "Back to the Future" trilogy, the team of the popular sitcom "Big Bang Theory" has chosen Lloyd to be the next guest to drop some gags for the Dec.1 episode. Additional details about the actor's supposed role are not yet revealed and fans are guessing if he will play himself as Wil Wheaton did in a previous episode of the series.

"We're so excited to be working with Christopher Lloyd, and think we've created a fun part that fans will really enjoy," one of the show's executive producers said in a statement. The plot of the said episode is also kept as a mystery for now, but teasers are expected to come in the coming weeks.

Lloyd is not the first notable star to guest in "Big Bang Theory." The actor will join the impressive list of actors that already appeared in the sitcom including his "Taxi" co-star Judd Hirsch. The latter played as the father of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) in a past episode. Over the years, other Hollywood A-listers such as Bill Nye, Charlie Sheen, Bob Newhart, Stan Lee, Steve Wozniak, and Katee Sackhoff, among others have joined the "Big Bang Theory" ensemble cast.

Apart from "Big Bang Theory," Lloyd is also set to guest star in another TV drama which is Syfy's "12 Monkeys."

Meanwhile, "Big Bang Theory," as it is currently one of the most viewed TV series with over 20 million audience a week, has surprised its fandom with a prequel spinoff. It is rumored to feature the teenage version of Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons). Parsons was announced as the highest paid TV actor earlier this year, a possible reason that is being looked at for the show to choose his character to lead the said spinoff.
