Selena Gomez Rejects AMA 2016 Performance; Songstress Not Ready To Face Public Yet

Following the reported comeback performance of Selena Gomez at the American Music Awards (AMA) 2016 on Nov. 20, the singer-actress' camp has already announced that Gomez is not yet ready to make her first official public appearance after her battle with lupus. However, latest rumors reveal that Gomez has rejected the AMA 2016 comeback performance because of Justin Bieber.

Selena Gomez Rejects AMA 2016

It is sad news for Selena Gomez's fans as the 24-year-old songstress has already denied her rumored comeback performance at the 2016 American Music Awards. According to latest updates, Gomez has not yet fully recovered from lupus that causes her panic attacks, anxiety and depression. Even so, there are also rumors that Gomez finally rejected AMA upon knowing that her ex-flame Justin Bieber might be performing on the same stage.

Bieber's camp, however, has already confirmed that he will not be able to attend the music awards event due to prior commitment with world tour. As for Bieber not attending AMA 2016, the source said: "Even though Selena will always love Justin, it does make things easier for her knowing her ex-boyfriend will likely not be there."

Sudden Change Of Plans

According to a report by Hollywood Life, Gomez might still be able to alter her decision once her doctors give her the green light. In fact, in previous reports, Gomez had expressed that she is excited to come back on stage and do what she loves to do. As of now, it is difficult to tell if she really can make it and get back to her grind given her circumstance. Gomez has been out of the limelight for almost three months now since she canceled her Revival tour last August in Europe.

Gomez's Nomination

The "Kill 'Em With Kindness" hit-maker has been nominated at the 2016 AMA for three major categories - Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist and Artists of the Year. Last year, Gomez performed at the same event. On the other hand, Bieber is nominated for seven categories, including Artist of the Year, Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist and Favorite Pop/Rock Album.
