Best Samsung Midrange Phones 2016: Galaxy J2 Prime, Galaxy A8 (2016), Galaxy J7 Prime, Galaxy J5 Prime, Galaxy On7 and On8 (2016)

Samsung isn't only known for its premium flagships like the Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series. The company is also famous for its wide range of midrange phones. Samsung caters to the smartphone needs of different people from different walks of life. This means that you can get a Samsung phone at almost any price group. If you're not so much of a smartphone fanatic and just want a regular smartphone that gets the job done, here are some of the best midrange Samsung phones you can get this year. Take note, though, that these smartphones may or may not be available in your country.

Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime, Around $140

The most recently released affordable Samsung phone is the Samsung Galaxy J2 Prime. It was released in November and it is a five-inch smartphone with a 540 x 960-pixel resolution. It runs Marshmallow from the box and is powered by a Mediatek processor. it has a decent 1.5 GB RAM, 8 GB storage, and a microSD slot for up to 256 GB extra storage. J2 Prime's cameras include an 8 MP rear cam and a 5 MP front cam. Both have LED flash. Battery-wise, this phone has a modest 2600 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy A8 (2016), $300+

The Galaxy A8 has been released October this year and it is a bit larger than the J2 Prime. It's a 5.7-inch phone with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It also runs Android Marshmallow from the box but it is powered by an Exynos 7420 Octa processor. Its internal storage is 32 GB but you can also expand it through its 256 GB capacity microSD slot. The Galaxy A8 does have a sufficient RAM of 3 GB and a better set of cameras (16MP/8MP). It boasts of a fingerprint sensor and a bigger 3300 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, Around $300

The Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime is also a relatively new Samsung midrange. Released in September, this smartphone is a 5.5-inch device with a 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. It also runs Android Marshmallow from the box and powered by an Octa-core Exynos processor. It's pretty similar to the Galaxy A8 as it also has 3 GB RAM. It does have two storage options, however. You can opt for either a 16 GB or a 32 GB variant. For the cameras, the Galaxy J7 Prime has a 13 MP rear camera and an 8 MP front camera. It also has a fingerprint scanner and a 3300 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime, Around $220

The J5 Prime is like a slightly lower model of the J7 Prime. It was just released last September with a smaller size of 5.0 inch. Its display resolution is a modest 720 x 1280 and it also runs Android Marshmallow from the box. It's got 2 GB RAM, 16 GB storage, and a 256 GB capacity microSD slot. Furthermore, the J5 Prime has a 13MP/5MP camera combo, a fingerprint scanner, and a 2400 mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy On7 and On8 (2016), Around $220

Both the Galaxy On7 and Galaxy On8 were unveiled this September and both phones boast of their 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution displays. Both run Android Marshmallow from the box but the On7 is powered by Snapdragon 625 and the On8 is powered by an Exynos 7580 Octa processor. The On7 has a 32 GB internal storage, 8 MP front camera and a finger print scanner. The Galaxy On8, on the other hand, it has 16 GB storage, 5 MP front camera and no fingerprint scanner, GSM Arena. Both phones have 256 GB microSD capacities, 13 MP rear cameras, 3 GB RAM and 3300 mAh batteries.
