Apple Launches A Photo Book: Why It Is Totally Worthless For You

Tech companies will always be very surprising. Apparently, Apple will be releasing a book that comes in two sizes which cover about the company's 20 years of their product designs.

About The Book

In a written article at Fortune, the book that Apple is planning to launch is called "Designed by Apple in California" that showcases 20 years of designs from the 1998 iMac to the 2015 Apple Pencil. The book will also discuss the materials used in Apple products as well as the techniques that Apple's design team has used over the course of two decades in creating the computers, smartphones, wearable techs, and accessories we know today. The book will be available online on selected Apple stores around the world on November 16.

According to End Gadget, the book is a linen-bound hardcover volume and is available in two sizes. The smaller size is 10.2 x 12.75 inches, while the larger one is 13 x 16.25 inches. There is no report if there will be any other difference between the two books aside from the sizes. The smaller one is priced at $199 and the other is $299.

Reason Why Apple Is Launching The Book

The Design by Apple in California is dedicated to the memory of its co-founder and former CEO, Steve Jobs. Aside from that, the only reason left is for profit (well, that is what the general public can think of). Come on, if you want to honor someone, most people will sponsor charity events, not sell a $199 and $299 picture book.

Why You Should Not Spend A Single Cent On This Book

Yeah, Apple's reason for launching the book is noble. However, who in their right mind will buy a $300 picture book? Even the people with money to burn won't even buy it. And if you ever buy it, what good does it do aside from honoring Steve Jobs?

The book itself shows you 450 photos of previous Apple product designs, materials used, and the techniques used in making them, which by the way, can be found in the web. In fact, regardless if there will be "exclusive" information written at the $300 picture book, the internet can give you more information than the book can ever give you.

Final thoughts

If Apple is trying to raise awareness for the late Steve Jobs' and what he has contributed to Apple, then they are certainly getting a lot of attention. However, to sell it for $199 and $299 is a terrible joke. Apple is known for its high price tags of its tech gadgets, and we totally understand it. But for a picture book to cost around $300, that is a total rip-off.
