Tinder is now offering 37 more gender identities to add on your profile. This proves that everyone is welcome to use Tinder. To take advantage to the gender options, all you have to do is edit or add more information about your gender by tapping “I Am” and then selecting “More.” From there, simply type in the words that best describe your gender identity.

According to Tinder, "This is just one step in our efforts to make Tinder a more inclusive community. We built this feature with the help of our transgender and gender non-conforming users and consultants, including Nick Adams and Alex Schmider from GLAAD's Transgender Media Program, and filmmaker and trans advocate Andrea James."

‘No one will ever be banned from Tinder because of their gender. 'We haven’t had the right tools to serve our diverse community in the past, but that changes today.’ It continues, ‘If you believe you were ever wrongfully removed from Tinder because another user reported you unfairly due to your gender, we want to invite you back to our platform.’

"Six months ago we discovered that the transgender community on Tinder was experiencing some harassment on the platform," co-founder, president and returning CEO of Tinder Sean Rad says. "When we initially heard about it, we were very angry." Rad also hopes that this will be the beginning of the solution to problems transgender app users have faced.

More Tinder Updates

According to Observer, Tinder has also added a “Show Me” screen to let the community know some users have included more information about their gender identities. Off the app, Tinder has also allocated additional resources to their support team and have educated them on the challenges facing the transgender and gender non-conforming communities.
