2017 Sentra NISMO Update: Nissan Offers Poweful New Trim, Will It Deliver?

The performance cars segment is not exactly where the Nissan Sentra is considered a popular one. However, it seems like this is about to change with the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO being offered in a powerful new trim. The NISMO that is now added to the Sentra, is a motorsports division of Nissan that focuses on creating powerful cars such as the GT-R, 350Z and 370Z that have all carried the Nissan brand name with ferocity. The question is will it deliver?

The New More Powerful Trim

According to a report from BGR, the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO has a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine capable of putting out a 188 horsepower and torque of 177 pound-feet. This will be paired with an optional six-speed manual transmission. Comparing this capability with the GT-R NISMO that has 600 horsepower, this may not impress a whole lot of people but it will no doubt make the vehicle capable enough to compete with some of the biggest names in the segment of compact performance cars.

2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO Features

Automotive News reported that the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO will make use of different fascia in both its front and rear end along with some side sills and 18-inch wheels. The interior will have performance seats along with NISMO surface, instrument clusters made from carbon fiber to go with its NISMO surface and steering wheel. Other features include NISMO springs, shocks, rear monotube dampers, suspension tuning and added performance steering that will all come with its increased body rigidity.

Price And Release

According to BGR, the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO will have a price tag of less than $25,000. This makes the 2017 Nissan Sentra the most affordable model with the "NISMO" name on it to be sold in America. The 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO is expected to hit the U.S. market right after New Year.

Will It Deliver?

Whether the 2017 Nissan Sentra NISMO will be able to deliver remains to be seen. The answer will come soon enough when the new model finally goes on sale in the U.S market.
