Google's Translation App Update: All You Need To Know

The Internet has connected us with people around the world. With that being said, it has also shown us a vast of different cultures and languages around the world. It has also sparked our interest in learning about those cultures, specifically their language to learn and understand more about their culture. This is why users will find out how the Google Translate app has gotten much better and useful.

What Is New About The Google Translate App?

With the previous Google Translate app, it can only translate almost any language that people are using today word by word. However, according to a written article at Time, Google announced last Tuesday about the upgrade boost to its language translation service that will allow users to translate whole sentences at a time rather than phrases or words piece by piece. Yeah, you won't have to worry anymore about assembling the words and phrases you translated to make it legit.

According to the Association for Computational Linguistics, the new version of the Google Translate is powered by a neutral machine translation, in which is said to be a new method of teaching computers to translate human languages. The new version is confirmed to work immediately with English, French, German, Spanish, Chinese, and other common languages. Google promised that eventually, the new feature will also be able to support the other remaining languages.

About its accuracy, critics said it is a bit high. However, that is still to be debated, because many people will have to wait until the full upgrade will be completed to give it a solid review from the users. But hey, if it doesn't deliver, there is Microsoft that is planning to develop a new feature that allows users to be able to translate messages in real time while chatting. This feature is said to be completed by the end of the year.

About the Google Translate App System (from the original version by Digital Trends)

For starters, it is important to point out that only the Android version offers all the features. But don't worry, the new feature is not only limited to the Android version. The lists of the complete features are Language Translations (this is where the new feature falls into), Dictionary Results, Read Foreign Scripts, Text-To-Speech, Voice Input, Starring, And History, and Conversation Mode.

How To Use It

First and foremost, the Google Translate app only works if you have a connection (but there are ways to get around this). About how to use its Language Translation feature, select the language you are translating from the box located at the top-left, and then select the language you are translating to on the box located at the top-right. After selecting the languages you want, you can tap on the line at the bottom of the screen to bring out the virtual keyboard and type in the word, phrase, or sentence that you would like to translate.
