Whats The Difference Between The Samsung Galaxy 8 And The Samsung Galaxy 8.0?

Good news for all Samsung fans! An upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is coming towards the end of 2017. But first, let me explain what I learned when I read about it.

Another Samsung Galaxy Note 8?

When I first read the news about a new upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 at Value Walk, it got me interested right away (I'm a Samsung user myself, but never had the money to buy a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 or S7), so I started looking for more information about its specs and features. As I searched for more info about the device, I got confused because there was a Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 at GSM Arena. I was like, is this it? What got me confused was this device - Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 was announced last February of 2013 and was released in April 2013. I then dig deeper and search for more details and finally decided to compare the two to know what difference they have aside from the dates they were announced and released.

Galaxy Note 8 Versus Galaxy Note 8.0

Display. Samsung is known for its tech prowess and has proved it throughout the years, except for its "slight bump" this year. It is believed that the Galaxy Note 8 will sport 4k resolution. For the Galaxy Note 8.0, the screen is 800 x 1280 pixels.

Home Button. Reportedly, Samsung is probably going to remove the "home button" for the upcoming Galaxy Note 8 - the same common and popular suggestion for the Apple iPhone range. For the Galaxy Note 8.0, there is a definitely a home button located at the bottom of the screen.

Design. There is no solid information yet about the design of the Galaxy Note 8, but many believe that Samsung will drastically diverge from the metal and glass design of the Galaxy Note 7. It is rumored that its bezels will be slimmed downed significantly. For the Galaxy Note 8.0, it sports Samsung's plastic design that is prone to fingerprints, its screen is surrounded by a decent bezel with the home button laid out at the bottom, and the device has a "rounded look" that we see from the recent Samsung devices.

Camera. The Galaxy Note 8 is said to be sporting a dual lens camera that is 30 MP. About its other camera, there is no information about it. For the Galaxy 8.0, the rear camera is 5 MP, the front camera is 1.5 MP, and video is 720@30fps.

Battery. According to Value Walk, there will likely be power-saving features built into the next iteration of the Android operating system, but Samsung may also decide to increase the physical quantity of the cell as well. It is expected to be increased up to 4000 mAh that is higher than the Galaxy Note 7 battery which was only 3500 mAh. For the Galaxy Note 8.0, it is a 4600 mAh battery.

Processor. Reportedly, the Galaxy Note 8 will debut with the Snapdragon 830, making it powered by at least 3.2 GHz of octo-core power. For the Galaxy Note 8.0, it is equipped with the Exynos 4412 Quad powered by 1.GHz Cortex-A9.

Memory. For the Galaxy Note 8 to feature 4k display, it is expected that the device will be packed with 6 GB of Ram. The Galaxy Note 8.0 is packed with 16/32 GB and 2 GB of RAM.

Operating System. The Galaxy Note 8 is to run with either the Android Nougat or the Android O, depending on when it will be released. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 runs on Android OS, V4.1.2 (Jelly Bean) and can be upgraded to V4.4 (KitKat).

Features. For its new features, an iris scanner and Samsung's own artificial intelligence assistant (Brixby) will be likely be featured at the Galaxy Note 8. The Galaxy Note 8.0 features are Accelerometer, Gyro, Proximity, and Compass.

Price. Due to the "slight bump" that Samsung faced this year, it is believed that Samsung will settle at a lower and competitive price for the Galaxy Note 8. As for the Galaxy Note 8.0, it's been 3 years since its release, so the price may differ. It is priced around $290-$330.
