As EXO received the most anticipated Artist of the Year award in "Melon Music Awards", BTS stood up to applaud and remained standing until they finish their speech.

Last November 19,2016 "Melon Music Awards" was held at the Gocheok SkyDome in Seoul. One of the biggest award to be given is the Artist of the Year and EXO was competing with Red Velvet, Mamamoo, TWICE, Akdong Musician, GFriend, Taeyeon, Zico, and even BTS.

This is not the only award EXO bagged from the "2016 Melon Music Awards", the group were able to win a total of six awards including Netizens Choice Award, Dance Award for Male Group, Top 10 Artist, and Kakao Hot Star Award.

EXO is a boy group formed by S.M. Entertainment in 2011. The group is composed of 12 members in two different subgroups namely EXO-M and EXO-K. One group performs in Korean and the other Mandarin. The very first album XOXO was already a big hit, winning the Album of the Year and Golden Disk Awards at the 15th Mnet Asian Music Aawards. The album sold more than one million units, making the group the best-selling Korean group in over a decade.

The albums that followed by the band continued to have good sales that made EXO the most influential celebrity in Korea’s Forbes in 2014 and 2015. Many would claim that EXO is the biggest boyband in the global market which shows in their seamless choreography, songs that almost always a hit and the combination of each member’s talent and personalities.

Meanwhile, BTS who showed their utmost respect for EXO also bagged a couple of awards. Aside from being included in the country’s Top 10 artist, they also won the Best Album of the Year Award. Lately, BTS have been receiving international exposure as the group tops Billboard charts in the U.S. that even sparked an online petition for BTS' songs to air on U.S. radio.
