Robin Offed In New Batman Comic Series

DC Comics will kill off Batman's sidekick in an upcoming comic book edition to be published Wednesday, Feb. 27. Robin the Boy Wonder will play sidekick to the Dark Knight one last time in issue No. 8.

The first Robin, Dick Grayson, made his first appearance in the monthly DC Comics' Detective Comics series in 1940. His appearance increased the sales of the book and superhero sidekicks became trendy. The

Writer Grant Morrison discussed details of the "kill" issue of the Batman Incorporated series with the Post.

"He saves the world. He does his job as Robin. He dies an absolute hero," said Morrison in the exclusive interview.

Damian Wayne is the latest character to assume the alias of Robin. Bruce Wayne's 10-year-old son gets killed during a fight with his own clone. This time Batman arrives too late to save his trusty sidekick.

"It's all about the family and the family going to hell. The two adults in the story are both culpable. The kid's the good guy," said Morrison. He explains that he added elements from his own life, referring to the divorce of his mother and father.

Damian Wayne is the grandson of Batman villain Ra's al Ghul since he is the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul, the daughter of Ra's al Ghul.

"What we did was turn this little monster into a superhero. He's a little brat, but he's a super-brat," said Morrison.
