Pokémon Go News: New Nearby Feature Expanding

Fans of the game Pokémon Go have been busy lately looking for a blob-like creature named Ditto. They figure to be even busier with the improved Nearby tracking feature.

Niantic recently announced that Nearby will be returning and will be even better than before.

Pokémon Go players remember how frustrating it was to discover that the feature was removed last summer during a time when almost everyone was enchanted with the location-based reality game based on the popular 90's cartoon series.

The new and improved feature will now focus on Pokémon characters that are within the location of a player when he or she is near a PokéStop. This simply means the player can see the character if he or she is within range of the PokéStop.

The improvement on the Nearby tracker will help players fully know what characters are near them. They will also have a better indication on where to go to catch the said Pokémons.

The updated feature has not been welcomed positively by everyone, however. Over at Reddit, a few players have voiced their disappointment with how the Nearby feature prevents one from knowing the presence of rare characters that are outside the range of a PokéStop.

"There could be a Snorlax 50 feet from you and the only information we're given is about the pidgeys 300 yards away by a stop," according to one Reddit user.

The new Nearby feature is available to Trainers in all states west of the Mississippi River except Hawaii and Alaska. Over at Canada, only British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the western half of Ontario can take advantage of Nearby tracker. The same can be said with all of Australia's states and territories.

The game took a dip after the excitement died down but Niantic is making sure to keep players interested. In October, the company provided catch bonuses, updated Gym Training, new Egg and Incubator Screens, and its first ever in-game event for Halloween.
