Android 4.1 Jelly Bean Heading To More Android Devices, Blackberry 10.1 Expected For March

Canadian carrier TELUS has updated its "Upcoming software updates schedule" to show that Jelly Bean 4.1 will be rolled out to a number of Android smartphones, and BlackBerry will update the existing mobile operating system to version 10.1.

Per the TELUS website, the HTC One S and Samsung Galaxy Rugby LTE will receive Jelly Bean 4.1 update in March and Samsung Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Note will get the update in April.

BlackBerry launched its latest OS in January this year and TELUS indicates that version 10.1 will be rolled out to BlackBerry Z10 in March. However, small print on the carrier's website reads "expected dates are estimates and are subject to change."

Android 4.1 Jelly Bean has been rolled out to many other smartphones but it will be the first update for BlackBerry 10. TELUS does not indicate if the latest update will fix bugs or bring new features to the BlackBerry smartphones; however, it is important to note that the Canadian company has taken feedback from users and wants to update the OS for a smooth performance.

TELUS has not confirmed the exact rollout dates for the software update. No other Canadian carrier has confirmed the BlackBerry 10.1 update, so it will be interesting to see if the update will be exclusive to TELUS or will follow soon to other carriers.

BlackBerry 10 devices are set for a March launch in the U.S. and users will hope that the latest software is available on their latest BlackBerry smartphones.
