Red Cross Announces Their Need Of Blood Donors

The American Red Cross urges eligible donors to give a lifesaving blood or platelet donation this holiday season. The blood donations will be used for the planned events in the East Central Indiana in December. Donors can help ensure patients continue to receive treatment throughout the holiday season. Busy holiday schedules and travel plans make it more challenging for regular donors to give, and many businesses and organizations postpone hosting blood drives during the holiday season for the same reasons. This can lead to a decline in blood donations, but the need is constant.

The American Red Cross

The American Red Cross (ARC), sometimes also called as the American National Red Cross, is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief and education in the United States. The organization offers services in four other areas such as the following: communications services and comfort for military service and family members; the collection, processing and distribution of blood and blood products; educational programs on preparedness, health and safety; and international relief and development programs.

It is the designated US affiliate of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies reaches 160 million people each year through its 190-member National Societies. It acts before, during and after disasters and health emergencies to meet the needs and improve the lives of vulnerable people. It does so with impartiality as to nationality, race, gender, religious beliefs, class and political opinions. The IFRC’s collective plan of action is to tackle the major humanitarian and development challenges of this decade.
