'Charmed' Actress Shannen Doherty Fights Cancer; Shares Photo Of First Radiation Therapy

American actress, Shannen Doherty has surprised the world when she announced that she is battling cancer. Along with the announcement on her grave condition, she has updated fans on current therapies and what she went through.

Doherty has revealed that she was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2015 and by 2016, cancer has spread to her lymphatic system. She also shared earlier this year that she had a mastectomy, which is surgically removing one or both breasts. She has further revealed that she will be undergoing radiotherapy after she has completed her chemotherapy.

With that, she uploaded an update on her personal Instagram account of her first session of radiotherapy. The “Charmed” star, as shown in the photo she uploaded, has gone bald after losing all her hair and have lost some weight, too. Though probably weak with battling cancer, the actress still seems upbeat and looks healthier.

The photo was captioned, “First day of radiation treatment. I look like I'm about to make a run for it which is accurate. Radiation is frightening to me. Something about not being able to see the laser, see the treatment and having this machine moving around you just scares me. I'm sure I'll get used to it but right now. I hate it.”

Shannen Doherty started her career in the entertainment industry in 1981 after making her debut on television series “Vogayers!” and “Father Murphy”. It was not until 1990 that she gained popularity for her role as Brenda Walsh on the popular television series, “Beverly Hills 90210”. She left the show in 1994 after the fourth season to attend school in London.

Though she didn’t have that much silver screen opportunities, she starred in several television series and she is highly known for her lead role as Prudence “Prue” Halliwell in the fantasy series “Charmed”. Sadly, she left the show after the third season reportedly because of tensions between her and co-star Alyssa Milano, who played Phoebe Halliwell. Since being diagnosed with cancer, Doherty has been engaging in charities that fight cancer, became a notable role in that community, and has received support from previous co-stars.
