‘Sense8’ Season 2 Premiere Date Announced, Netlfix Releases Christmas Day Special

Another one of the favorite science fiction television series has been confirmed to return for a sequel. News that “Sense8” will be getting a sequel dates back to Aug. 8, 2015. Now, Netflix has finally put a stop to the long wait and has revealed the date for “Sense8” Season 2 as well as a Christmas Day special.

Netflix has recently announced that “Sense8” Season 2 will finally air starting May 5, 2017. Since the announcement for the sequel back in 2015, fans of the sci-fi series have anticipated it. Filming for the sequel started in March 2016 and wrapped up in September 2016.

The second season of the said series will have 10 episodes unlike the first season, which aired 12 episodes. “Sense8” Season 1 was given a two-episode extension after announcing that it will run for 10 episodes because the showrunners could not fit the pilot story in the original limited episodes. There are no announcements whether they will extend the number of episodes for Season 2 but given that production has already been completed, it is most likely not going to happen.

Along with the great news, Netflix has also announced that it will also be releasing a winter holiday special for the series, titled “Sense8: A Christmas Special”. It is set to broadcast two days before Christmas Day. Netflix has revealed that the said special will run for two hours. The special screening was unveiled just on Dec. 3 at the Comic Con Experience event held in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

“Sense8” is an American television series and an original Netflix series that boasts a talented cast, which includes Aml Ameen, Doona Bae, Jamie Clayton, Tina Desai, Tuppence Middleton, Max Riemelt, Miguel Angel Silvestre, and Brian J. Smith. These actors portray the eight protagonists of the series. “Sense8” Season 1 started airing in June 2015 and was received favorably by millions of viewers.
