NES Classic Edition Restock Begins: Toys R Us Back With Hottest Console

A few weeks ago when the NES Classic Edition was officially released into the market, the nostalgic public grabbed up the console quickly, leaving too many players empty handed. When the demand for the item was clear, Nintendo promised that it would restock the console before the holidays hit. Despite the absence of an official announcement, Toys R Us has revealed it holds stock of the console.

According to iDigitalTimes, Toys R Us will have stocks of the NES Classic Edition in their stores on December 4. This is because the retailer will begin its Great Big Christmas Sale on Sunday and will close on December 10. The NES Classic Edition will reportedly be part of the sale, along with another hot item for the holidays, Hatchimal.

The problem is that stocks of the console are sure to again sell out in no time, so interested buyers will still need to be fast if they want the console. "Our stores are receiving shipments of [the NES Classic Edition] and we expect that when stores open at 8 a.m., they will sell very quickly." More likely than not, the console will sell out almost as soon as it is put on shelves - much like what happened with the first shipment.

Once Nintendo restocks the device, there is no doubt that other retailers will carry the same. However, stores such as Target are unsure when shipments will arrive. "Target is actively working to meet guest demand and will continue to replenish inventory throughout the season," a spokesperson told CNBC.

The NES Classic Edition is a miniature version of the 1985 Nintendo Entertainment System. It comes preinstalled with 30 of the most loved retro games of its generation, including "Final Fantasy," "The Legend Of Zelda," "Donkey Kong" and various "Mario" titles. It has been generally well received by gamers and critics alike, except for a few concerns about the wired controller and limited game list.
