'The Vampire Diaries' Season 8 Actress Nina Dobrev To Star In Series Spin-Off; Ian Somerhalder, Nikki Reed To Produce The Show?

"The Vampire Diaries" Season 8 might be nearing its finale soon and fans are still waiting for Nina Dobrev's comeback. Despite six episodes already aired, Dobrev's return in the show remains a blur. But new reports suggest that the actress might be doing a bigger project related to the series. And it looks like Ian Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed, will play a huge part as well.

Recently, rumors are rife that Nina Dobrev will have another busy year ahead as she is set to star in "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off. And it looks like her reunion with Ian Somerhalder is inevitable this time as the actor will be producing the alleged new series alongside his wife, Nikki Reed.

According to Variety, Somerhalder is making a plan for his future as a producer and landed a deal with Warner Bros TV. Reed will also tag along in the said project. Many speculate that his upcoming project is the alleged "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off. Considering that the series was also produced by Warner Bros TV, a spin-off is highly possible.

Apparently, Dobrev has been tapped to be the lead star of the alleged "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off since her comeback in the series is highly anticipated. It is believed that bringing her in the new show is a smart move to attract more viewers. However, with all the rumors being thrown at Dobrev and Somerhalder, will they be able to pull it off? So far, no confirmation has been made regarding the said claims.

Meanwhile, Somerhalder also shares how he wants "The Vampire Diaries" to end. According to reports, the 37-year-old actor wants the Salvatore brothers to flee Mystic Falls peacefully.

"We would love to see the two boys go down to the Caribbean somewhere and sit on a beach drinking some 60-year-old Caribbean rum, and as the sun comes up, just toast each other, give each other a hug, and take off their rings and throw them into the sea and let them just poof-turn into ash," Somerhalder quipped. "I've created so much death and so much violence on this show that I think it would be such an amazing win for humanity if Damon and Stefan just went bye-bye. Let's hope it happens."

It was also reported that the actor wants Dobrev's character Elena to be awake without knowledge of the brothers, which could potentially be a good storyline for the supposed spin-off. Currently, the 27-year-old brunette is busy with her upcoming movie "xXx: Return Of Xander Cage." In fact, the actress has been out of the country to promote the film overseas. The movie is set to premiere on January 20, 2017.

Will Nina Dobrev consider taking the lead role in the alleged "The Vampire Diaries" spin-off? Will Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed work well together with the actress? Only time can tell how it all unfolds for these celebrities. For now, fans can still enjoy "The Vampires Diaries" Season 8 with episode 7 coming out on December 9, 2016.
