Ark: Survival Evolved Tips: The Best Five Dinos To Tame Early Game

Ark: Survival Evolved offers the chance to live a lifelong dream that we thought would never come true: have a pet dinosaur. However, if you have a PS4, you're late to the party. The game takes it further as you can have multiple of them and have them do things for you and your tribe. Here are the best dinos to tame early in the game.

Trike For Harvesting And Defense

The Trike is a definite must-have in the early parts of Ark: Survival Evolved. As soon as you can make a saddle for it, go ahead tame your first triceratops. They are great in harvesting berries, specifically narco berries for future taming.

This species is also great at defending your base against Carnos and Raptors. Moreover, they can carry some weight so you can also use them as mules. Generally, it is a good all-around dino that can prove to be useful in your quest for survival, but note that they are rather slow.

Dodo For Eggs And Poop

Dodos are pretty easy to tame in Ark: Survival Evolved. Some say they are also pretty useless, but tame about five of them so you can get some eggs. Their eggs can be used for kibble for Pteranodon, Ichthy and even Mesopithecus. You can also benefit from their eggs as you can eat them if you're in a bind for food.

Another thing that comes out of them that is useful is their poop. Use those as fertilizer for your farm, which you should consider doing as soon as possible. However, make sure you are in a good spot first.

Raptor For Traveling And Farming Meat

Raptors can be used as a steed. Their speed makes them a worthy companion in your travels in Ark: Survival Evolved. Their attacking power is not abnormally high, but good enough. You can use them to attack other dinos for farming some meat.

Get yourself five more and you'll have a Trike-Raptor combo defending your base: Trikes for a sturdy tank and Raptors for fast attacking. You can also get their eggs to use as kibble for Mammoths.

Dilos For Guarding Or Attacking

Dilos are probably the closest thing you'll get to a dog in the world of Ark: Survival Evolved. You can get one easily early on, but go ahead and tame more for a good hunting pack. They can be good fighters, so it's good to tame one or two as soon as you start the game.

When you have moved on to better guards or attackers, you can keep them to farm eggs for kibble. The favorite kibble of Ankylo, Doedicurus and Pachy consists of Dilophosaurus eggs, so if you're planning to tame one or more of those, you better have some Dilos.

Argentavis For Scouting And Flying

Argentavis is not really a bird that you can get as a pet in the early parts of Ark: Survival Evolved. It's more of a mid-game tame, but it is recommended to get one as soon as you unlock the saddle for them. You must have a flyer type for easy scouting without worry of a beast coming to get you.

It's also a great transporter because, you know, it can fly. It can transport animals, even the bigger ones, but it can easily kill them, too. With that said, it is also great in harvesting meat.

So, these are my top picks as the best dinos in Ark: Survival Evolved to tame as soon as you can (which you can learn here). What about you? Which ones do you make sure to get to your side?
