Chris Paul Badly Wants To Team Up With Lebron James; Is The Clippers’ Point Guard Moving To The Cavs?

"I really hope that, before our career is over, we can all play together," he said. "At least one, maybe one or two seasons—me, Melo, D-Wade, CP—we can get a year in. I would actually take a pay cut to do that…It would be pretty cool. I’ve definitely had thoughts about it. We’ll see."

Interesting statements coming from the Cleveland Cavaliers’ big man, Lebron James. Wait, did we just say that the desire to have this dream team come to fruition was raised by the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul?

Both James and Paul voiced out their wishes to play together. The difference is James openly discussed it in an interview way back in March in the hopes that before he retires he will be able to play with Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Paul even for one season.

Is he still up for that big collaboration? There’s a possibility but with the Cavs recent championship and the stronger goal of retaining their title, it is likely that his focus will be on their team’s wins.

The idea is still alive, though. In a recent podcast interview, Paul was asked about his thoughts on James’ objective post-retirement and he said that it can happen.

"Anything’s possible. Definitely, anything’s possible," Paul said.

"We’ll work out together and stuff like that sometimes. The last time [we played together] was 2008, sometime around the Olympics. D-Wade was coming off his injury. He hit us up and said, 'I need to see what it’s like to play for real.' We all met in Chicago. I’ll never forget that. We went to a gym in Chicago and we played pickup with some other guys just to give him some of that real feel, what it was like. Then, I don’t know if you remember, at the 2008 Olympics, [Wade] went off. That’s what you do for your real friends and your real brothers," Paul elaborated.

It looks like the point guard is more than willing to do the tricks with his brothers. It may sound easy but it’s a huge decision that needs crucial thinking and a lot of considerations. Various leagues will be impacted and their personal and professional relationships too.

"You think about the feel," he said. "Obviously, basketball is a huge part of it. I even think about with that trade that brought me here to L.A. That whole process opened my eyes…There were a few places, I just didn’t want to live there. Believe it or not, my wife actually has input in this decision. Seriously, there’s a conversation we have about our kids. Basketball is a huge part of it, but it’s also about the way of life and how it’s going to be for my kids."

It is not known to many that LeBron and Chris are good pals outside of the basketball court. With such established friendship and Chris’ free agent status next summer, he can opt to ink a great deal with LeBron’s crew. Will the Cavs create a space for Chris considering that they already have a skilled Kyrie Irving as their starting point guard?

The Cavaliers are bearing the pressure to retain their historical title. Just as the Golden State Warriors have successfully proved their star-studded lineup in the influential presence of Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Cavaliers are yet to strengthen their squad led by their legendary small forward.

Previously NBA trade rumors hinted New Orleans Pelicans point guard Norris Cole and Golden State Warriors’ Andre Iguodala to be the big names that the Cavs need to complete their roster. As a free agent, Cole can consider reuniting with James whom he had worked previously during their heydays in Miami Heat. Andre Iguodala and his outstanding credentials, make him the shooting guard that any league would madly snatch from the Warriors.
