Samsung Galaxy S4 Official Photo Release

Samsung on Monday released a teaser image for the Galaxy S4 as the company gears up for the smartphone's release later this week. The photo appears to show the same phone we brought you earlier in this leaked image.

Samsung's photo shows a handset not entirely dissimilar from Samsung's Galaxy S3. It is a little longer and slightly more rectangular, with what appears to be a 5-inch display fitted into a new, thinner bezel.

Some have noted that it features a more square-shaped design, similar to the Galaxy S2.

The images come on the heels of the second in a series of video ads that feature Samsung's Jeremy Maxwell — the secret messenger — unpacking a Galaxy S4 (which remains unseen) and exclaiming, "It's my favorite color!"

The ad immediately led to speculation that the Galaxy S4 would come in multiple colors in addition to the marble white and pebble blue shades we already know.

Later in the day on Monday, we brought you a leaked video purported to feature a hands-on with the Galaxy S4 itself. Though we can't vouch for its authenticity, we can say that the phone — whatever it is — is running Samsung's TouchWiz user interface, and this makes us very sad.

Most industry analysts were hoping that Samsung might opt to forego reinventing the wheel this product cycle, and allow the Galaxy S4 to ship with the stock version of Android Jelly Bean 4.2. All hope is not yet lost. It's still very possible the phone will debut with different software, and more possible yet that the video is in fact a hoax.

Earlier this week, website SamMobile leaked some spec details for the Galaxy S4. It's alleged the phone with have an HD AMOLED screen made from phosphorescent organic light emitting diodes that are supposed to help reduce battery consumption.

"Floating touch" technology is also rumored to be incorporated into the headset, allowing users to push buttons without actually touching anything.
