Pokemon Sun and Moon’ Guide: Where To Catch Gyarados?

Gyarados is one of the strongest Pokemon in 'Pokemon Sun and Moon' so its not surprising why many trainers want to have it on their party or in their Pokedex. Unfortunately, trading is not yet possible in the game so players who want it will have to find it in the game to have it. So this article is all about guiding players find all the Gyarados nest in the game.

Where to Find Gyarados in the Game?

In 'Pokemon Sun and Moon', one way to find a Gyarados is through an SOS battle with a Magikarp. This method takes a while and not all Magikarp encounters guarantees a Gyarados responding to a Magikarp's call. The good thing about this method is that Magikarp has several nest in every island of the Alola Region.

In Melemele Island, Magikarp can be found in Melemele Meadow, Melemele Sea, and Kala'e Bay. In Akala Island players will encounter a Magikarp in Paniola Town, Routes 5,7,8, and 9. As for Ula'ula Island, players will see Magikarps in Malie Garden, Routes 13, 14, 15 and the Secluded Shore. Lastly, Magikarps found in Poni Island is in Seafolk Village, Ancient Poni Path, Poni Wilds, Poni Gauntlet, Poni Breaker Coast, and Poni Plains.

How to Catch Gyarados in the Game?

An encounter with a Magikarp in 'Pokemon Sun and Moon' is not very hard to get. The challenging part is getting a Gyarados to respond to its call. And to make a Magikarp call for help, players should have a Pokemon with the False Swipe move in their party. This move drains the HP of the wild Pokemon down to 1 to make it call for help. If the Pokemon that responded to the call is not a Gyarados, all the player needs to do is zero its HP so another one will be called. Keep doing this step until a Gyarados finally appears.
