ASUS Transformer Pad 300 Gets Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean Update

Earlier in March, ASUS pushed out the Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean Update for its Transformer Pad 300. Now, per reports, ASUS has released the full 4.2.1 ROM for the TF300.

The update to Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean is a first for a non-Nexus tablet.

Owners of the Transformer Pad 300 or TF300 who had unlocked the bootloaders of their device and missed out on the over-the-air (OTA) update, can rejoice as they now have the option to download the official ROM directly from ASUS' servers.

"Those of you who have unlocked the bootloaders of your Asus Transformer Pad 300s probably didn't receive the Android 4.2 update when it started rolling out earlier this month. But now, there is no need to feel left out," notes Android Authority.

The Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean ROM for the Transformer Pad 300 is now available for download via ASUS' servers. The update comes for three versions of the device — Global, China and P2P — and, therefore, users are advised to choose the correct one before flashing the ROM.  All three files are nearly 500MB in size so ensure that your device has enough battery charge before you begin flashing the ROM.

"There are 3 download servers available on ASUS Download Site - Global, China and P2P. Each server provides exact the same content no matter where you download from, except for the speed which you are connected to," notes ASUS.

The 4.2.1 ROM for the TF300 brings with it several enhancements, bug fixes and performance improvements one would expect from an update. This includes standard Android 4.2 features like lockscreen widgets, quick settings, multi-users and more.

To upgrade your Transformer Pad 300 to Android 4.2.1 software, head over to ASUS' server and download the official ROM.
