CORRECTION (9:45 PM EST March 16 ): Android 4.1.2 has officially been released by Verizon and Sprint, Galaxy S3 owners will need to tap Sytem Updates in the smartphone's Settings application if your smartphone does not ship with Android 4.1.2 already installed. The announcement of the Samsung Galaxy 4 is going drive down prices of current smartphones and we're now beginning to see more and more deals as carriers make room for the Galaxy S4. This deal is for the Verizon or Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3.

The Galaxy S3 remains a solid smartphone and is supposedly getting some of the innovative features Samsung showed off with the just-announced Galaxy S4. How does spending a penny to get your hands on the Samsung Galaxy S3 sound? You probably don't need to answer that, as both Verizon and Sprint are still selling the smartphone for $99 with a new two-year contract. Amazon Wireless is currently offering the Verizon and Sprint Samsung Galaxy for $0.01 when signing a new 2-year contact or $99 for upgrading.

The Verizon  and Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3 have some very impressive specs: The Galaxy S3 features a 4.8-inch, 306ppi (pixels per inch) 1280 x 720 Super AMOLED Plus HD display, Android 4.0 (upgradable to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean), a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, 16GB of internal memory, and 2GB of RAM. It also has an 8-megapixel rear camera with zero shutter lag and LED Flash, a 1.9-megapixel front camera, 1080p HD video capture (rear camera), 720p HD video capture (front-facing camera), 4G LTE radio, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC (near field communications), a microSD slot with support for up to 64GB microSD cards and a 2,100 mAh removable battery.

Verizon and Sprint's Samsung Galaxy S3 are upgradable to Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean out of the box, and will also be getting Android 4.1.2 very soon, along with Samsung's Galaxy S3 Premium Suite Upgrade. The Premium Suite Upgrade includes some very cool features like multi-window functionality (enabling users to separate their screen into two windows to use two apps at once), a new customizable notifications panel, smart rotation and new NFC and reader features. Other features of the suite include contextual menus that automatically adjust based on a user's previous and most frequent actions. Users can also have the ability to set up a music program to launch immediately when a user plugs in headphones. New tagging features are in the camera application and an optional notifications ticker is available from the lock screen.
