'Green Lantern': Ryan Reynolds Talks About How The Film Failed

Had the capricious finger of fate pointed differently, then 2011's Green Lantern movie would have hit big live-in-action, and its star, Ryan Reynolds, would have been dedicated to make another sequel too. In theory, at the expense of making this year's another Deadpool movie.

Yet Green Lantern demonstrated to be an expensive fall through for Warner Bros, and it slowing down its planned DC movie universe, and now with a reboot - Green Lantern Corps - due in 2020.

Somebody Will Take Over Role From Ryan Reynolds

Reynolds' career was a hit-hard extravagant on stage with uncopied act - both judgmentally and commercially - of the Green Lantern movie. And in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, he's been talking about what it went wrong with Green Lantern, and what went right with the of the Deadpool.

"Well it's simple: Deadpool always knew what it was," Reynolds declared. "With Green Lantern, I don't think anyone ever figured out exactly what it was. That isn't to say the hundreds of men and women didn't work their fingers to the bone to make it as good as possible. It also fell victim to the process in Hollywood which is like poster first, release date second, script last. At the time, it was a huge opportunity for me so I was excited to try and take part in it."

He also added that "I did however write a letter to Fox right before I had to decide whether I was going to do Green Lantern or not. I asked one last time sort of like the groom standing at the altar, 'will you please be my wife?' and they said they couldn't pull the trigger on Deadpool. For too many reasons too boring to illustrate, it just didn't work."

Reynolds might be tangled in next Green Lantern Corps. But he will be reenacting his Deadpool role, when the sequel begins its production next year 2017.
